The Principal HR/ER Business Partner plays a pivotal senior role providing expert human resource and employee relations (ER) advice. With a strong focus on complex and sensitive ER matters, the role partners with executives and senior leaders to support informed decision_making, reduce organisational risk, and drive effective people outcomes.

This role also provides leadership, supervision and mentoring to members of the HR team, helping build capability and confidence in navigating complex HR and ER matters.

As a Principal HR/ER Business Partner, you will:

Provide authoritative HR and ER advice to executives and senior leaders, specialising in complex matters such as misconduct, performance issues, grievances, workforce disputes and organisational change.

Lead and manage complex ER casework, ensuring matters are resolved in a timely, fair and compliant manner in accordance with legislation, industrial instruments and departmental policy.

Coach and support people leaders to build capability in managing employee performance, behaviour and workplace challenges.

Lead, mentor and develop HR team members --including a HR Business Partner and HR Support Officer --providing guidance, direction and quality assurance.

Contribute to the development, review and implementation of HR policies, procedures and frameworks aligned with whole‐of‐government requirements.

To apply and succeed in the role, you will have:

Demonstrated experience leading and managing complex human resources and employee relations matters within the SA public sector environment.

Strong knowledge of HR and ER legislation and frameworks, including but not limited to the Public Sector Act 2009 (SA), enterprise agreements, awards, and Commissioner's Determinations and Guidelines.

Proven ability to analyse complex issues, assess risk, and provide sound, pragmatic advice to senior stakeholders.

Experience leading, supervising or coaching HR Business Partners, including capability development.

Highly developed written communication skills, including preparation of reports, briefings and discussion papers.

Remuneration:

Competitive salary ASO7 $108,109 to $116,864 p.a. plus superannuation

Qualifications:

Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Law or related discipline

Special Conditions:

The role will be offered full-time (1.0 FTE) initially for 12 months.

Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC).
