Full-time fixed-term position for up to 3 years
Base salary will be in the range $67,585.96 - $74,394.54 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 3)
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic team member to join the UQ Biological Resources (UQBR) team at the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) facility. Reporting to the Animal Research Coordinator and the Senior Animal Facility Manager, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on, practical work in a supportive, team-oriented environment. The position involves a range of physical tasks, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying equipment and supplies, and plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the facility.
Key responsibilities will include:
Follow all PPE, safety, and biosecurity procedures.
Perform cage cleaning, sterilisation, and general maintenance to maintain a clean and safe facility.
Conduct quality control checks on equipment, materials, and processes.
Manage waste disposal in line with standard procedures.
Assist with stock receipt, distribution, and stocktaking of food, bedding, and supplies.
Support ordering of consumables to maintain adequate stock levels.
Participate in weekend and public holiday rosters.
Provide basic animal care and husbandry support (with training), as required.

About You
Have previous experience working within support areas in laboratory animal facilities
Completion of a Certificate III level qualification; or relevant work experience
Experience with specialized equipment and facility operations.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Meticulous and organized approach to work.
Understanding of WHS, OGTR, and DAWE Biosecurity regulations.
Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, medical clearance and mandatory immunisations.
