Fantastic casual opportunity to enhance your skills and experience within a Veterinary Teaching Hospital work across multiple disciplines under the guidance and support of Specialists, Residents, Interns and Veterinarians opportunity to be part of an inspirational team developing the next generation of veterinarians HEO 3 Step 1 $49.94 per hour Premium after hours loadings shift loadings (up to 75% of the base hourly rate depending on days/times) 12% superannuation About the opportunity The Casual Nurse position is within the Sydney School of Veterinary Science and supports the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. The School is ranked 2nd in Australia and 22nd globally, within a world class university. We are currently looking for full-time and part-time casual nurses to join our team! There are a number of opportunities available in a range of services. The role will work within the School’s University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Camperdown. The majority of available shifts will be in our ECC department, with other departments offering shifts more sporadically. The teaching hospital provides clinical learning experience for veterinary students with staff engaged in professional training programs through provision of veterinary services to the public. Your key responsibilities will be to: support student learning supervise and assist students with technical skills support the student experience through positive engagement with students in training. provide overall care for animals in the designated service, approaching patient treatment and care with compassion and empathy assists veterinarians during examinations, consultations, and treatments responsible for providing relevant support including but not limited to: placing intravenous catheters, phlebotomy, inducing anaesthesia, intubation, clipping/prepping animals for surgery, monitoring anaesthesia &setting up intravenous fluids under supervision assists with the respective service relevant treatments such as chemotherapy and radiographic procedures responsible for ordering and dispensing medications, food etc. as requested responsible for cleaning and disinfecting animal cages, floors, bench tops, triage and consulting rooms and surgeries as required responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment to ensure good working order responsible for operating in-house pathology equipment as needed assist with and cares for hospitalised animals responsible for routine lab tasks when required assist with other nursing duties as requested by the Senior Staff, Nurse Coordinator, Veterinarian Staff and Hospital Manager. About you hold a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent ( please attach Certificate IV or equivalent to this job application ) at least 1-year experience in a specialist hospital is preferred but not essential vibrant and enthusiastic, with a strong sense of teamwork kind and compassionate towards people and pets alike a strong communicator who can provide excellent customer service professional, hardworking, and committed to providing exceptional patient care have a keen interest in training and teaching We are committed to your development, and you will have access to a range of continuing education opportunities.
