AngloGold Ashanti is one of the world’s largest gold producers with operations across four continents. In Australia we own and manage the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine and the Tropicana Gold Mine. These premier Western Australian gold operations are undergoing ongoing investment and exploration in both open pit and underground environments.
Prospect
We are seeking a Surface Exploration Geologist to join our highly proficient Exploration team based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. This permanent role is based on a FIFO 8 days on / 6 days off roster out of Perth, with occasional remote work up to two hours’ drive from the mine.
Accountabilities
- Adhering to all safety procedures and always working in a safe manner.
- Developing and maintaining harmonious, productive working relationships with all contractors and colleagues.
- Independent supervision of drilling activities, ensuring a high level of safety, environmental compliance, and sample QA/QC.
- On‑ground contractor management and supervision of drill crews, downhole surveyors, and laboratory QA/QC.
- High‑quality geological logging of aircore, RC and diamond core.
- Completing assigned project work, including geological interpretation, 3D modelling, targeting, and drill hole planning.
- Assisting in maintaining and ensuring the integrity of the exploration database.
- Providing mentoring and training to graduate geologists and field technicians.
About You
- The right attitude – strong enthusiasm for geology and discovery.
- A relevant tertiary or postgraduate degree in geology.
- Proven working experience as an exploration, resource development or mine geologist.
- Excellent geological interpretation skills.
- Experience using GIS and 3D modelling software.
- Knowledge of QA/QC practices.
- Current C‑class manual driver’s licence, preferably with 4WD experience.
- Permanent work rights in Australia are mandatory.
