About the Role
As a seasoned Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading various infrastructure projects related to water, sewer, gas, electrical, and civil works. These projects involve constructing new reservoirs, remediation of existing structures, pump station development, pipeline construction, and underground utility projects.
The ideal candidate should possess experience or exposure to the construction industry and have worked on civil, utilities, and water infrastructure projects.
You will have continuous project exposure, enabling further development of technical and project management skills. This opportunity also includes working with a skilled team, tender bids, and submissions.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate project finances through reviewing and approving invoices for labor and materials, ensuring alignment with budget and identifying corrective actions for the Project Manager.
* Develop ITPs and ITCs, monitor and audit against the Project's Quality Management Plan and company policies, ensuring compliance by teams and subcontractors.
* Lead safety behavior by setting high standards, challenging and improving, maintaining open communication, and providing safety support and performance feedback to all project team members and subcontractors.
* Lead a safe culture through daily pre-starts and toolbox talks, identify potential risks, and stop work for safety concerns.
* Contribute to environmental management through reviewing CEMP, sub-plans, environmental control drawings, no-go zones, and procedures before activities and work method statements.
* Apply detailed knowledge of responsibilities outlined in project management plans (PMP, QMP, SMP, CEMP, WRMP). Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with project management plans.
* Undertake ad-hoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Project Manager.
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess:
* A minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Senior Project Engineer in the construction industry, preferably in civil, utilities, and water infrastructure projects.
* A Bachelor of Engineering degree accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer or equivalent.
* A valid driver's license and Construction Induction Card.
* Strong safety leadership capability.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* High personal resilience and persistence.
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
* Adaptability and ability to quickly learn and apply new skills and knowledge.
* Excellent relationship building, problem-solving, negotiation, and leadership skills.
* Experience in estimation costing and working within budgets.
* Sound business acumen backed by the ability to create, read, and interpret budgets, financial statements, and analyze variance reports.
