**General Manager of Technology**
The role of the General Manager of Technology is to engage with the business to drive the technology strategy, proactively support continued business improvement and success, and lead the day-to-day ICT function.
You will be responsible for providing strategic advice on the ICT direction of the business, managing projects, governance, cyber risk, vendors and commercial management of ICT.
**Strategy & Governance**
- Lead the strategic planning and implementation process to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritising initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development and deployment of new technology.
- Proactively work with the Leadership Team, Board, and technology partners to support execution of the Group's
strategy and contribute to broader business strategy.
- Establish an ICT strategy forum - monthly meeting with department heads to align priorities, report on progress and
seek feedback.
**Governance and Cyber Security**
- Develop and implement key governance frameworks, policies and processes to ensure that effective management of risks are in place.
- Technology and information security; ensure security of systems and underlying data
- Increase cyber risk maturity
**Business Engagement**
- Ensure effective engagement between ICT and the broader business (for data insights and ICT solutions).
- Improve the end-user experience and business outcomes with a focus on effective and regular engagement with the business and delivering solutions aligned to operational requirements.
- Improving end-user experience: delivery of business-focussed IT initiatives.
- Review the impact on operational efficiency (increased overheads) of IT systems and processes that are not operating optimally. Identify the cost of missing out on productivity and efficiency gains. eg automation of warehouse and back-office processes.
**Vendor Management**
- Responsible for tighter management of vendors with concrete performance standards.
- Manage IT-related services provided by all suppliers - including selection of suppliers, management of relationships, contracts, reviewing & monitoring supplier performance.Reducing key-person risk by building up knowledge within the business and the ICT vendors.
**Experience required**:
- Previous experience leading teams and influencing at a senior leadership level
- **Recent FMCG and/retail industry experience**:
- Managing external service providers
- Demonstrated ability to identify and diagnose IT challenges
- A track record of improving digital strategy outcomes
- Technical 'know how' with a commercial, customer first approach
- The ability to effectively communicate and translate technical terms to a non
- technical audience
- Demonstrated project management capability
- Strong knowledge of security practices and principles, including security and control standards and frameworks
- Experience with Microsoft 365 technology suite, Including SharePoint Online and Exchange
