About the service

The Medicare Mental Health Services are free, and you do not need an appointment, referral, or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Launceston, Devonport, Burnie, and Outer Hobart are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, providing a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country. The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and offers a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support.

The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to:

1. Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department
2. Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community

Role Overview

The Clinical Area Manager is a key member of Stride's management team, responsible for:

1. Leading and developing a multidisciplinary team to provide primary care and support for all accessing Medicare Mental Health Services in Tasmania.
2. Overseeing and contributing to the development and implementation of clinical, financial, administrative systems, and billing processes.
3. Ensuring the MMHC teams operate within a framework of continuous quality improvement and risk management.
4. Facilitating and convening meetings of the Clinical Governance Committee and associated subcommittees.


Requirements

* Must have one of the following: Full AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Nurse, OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (or working towards it).
* Minimum of 2 years' experience managing a mental health service.
* Demonstrated experience working within a recovery-based model.
* Proven expertise in managing a multidisciplinary service delivery team, including care coordination for complex needs and stakeholder engagement.
* Highly developed communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to meet deadlines in a high-demand environment and exercise judgment and initiative.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Must be eligible to apply for/currently hold a WWCC.
* Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance.
* Current Driver's License.
