About The Role
The Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) role is a unique part-time position (0.8FTE - 40hrs/fortnight) based at Tin Can Bay State School, with an additional 0.2FTE (10hrs/fortnight) supporting a small cluster of schools including Kia Ora, Rainbow Beach, and Wolvi State Schools. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and promote an inclusive culture across diverse school communities, ensuring students with disability are able to access, participate in, and achieve meaningful success. You will work closely with school teams, students, and families to build staff capability, guide educational leadership, and support high-quality teaching practices and adjustments in line with legislation and policy. This role is ideal for a passionate leader committed to equity, excellence, and improved academic and social outcomes for all students.
Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Special Education Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Manage and coordinate the delivery of high-quality advice and support provided by the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program.
* Lead and manage the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program to provide advice to classroom teachers for students with disability as needed.
* Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
* Coordinate and provide intensive targeted teaching for students requiring intervention.
