_TUTOR : Casual teacher or Tutor _
Synergy Learning and Therapy is a well-established (18 years) multi-disciplinary allied health clinic based in Caboolture (North Brisbane), Queensland. There is a growing need to offer part-time specialist student support services to existing and new clients who may have missed out on critical learning milestones,. The right applicant will join a team which includes psychology, counselling, psychotherapy (art),, dietetics / nutrition, Education Therapy and Early Learning support / special programs. We currently have Education Therapy (qualified teacher) and Early Learning Support (up to age 7) but we now require a tutor specialist to support learners 5 - 15 years.
The right applicant will have education related qualifications with clear experience with current curriculum, the ability to work across stages of schooling and experience with students with learning and behavioural issues. The ideal applicant will be working with a qualified, experienced Education Therapist with Special Education background to assess, plan, program and implement targeted curriculum with students. This program may also encompass developing social programs on a regular basis for students to use learned strategies in special interest groups.
The right applicant will liaise with parents, carers and guardians, teachers in schools, allied health therapists within our team and deliver quality programs to optimise learning. While there may be individual sessions, there would also be small group sessions of no more than three students per group.
Days required: At least one afternoon a week with Saturday work (only 8:30 - 2:30pm

**Salary**: Negotiable, depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
Necessary Training and Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications and appropriate professional registrations;
- Direct experience in a childcare, preschool and/or classroom preferred;
- Understanding of Australian curriculum and Early Learning Frameworks would be advantageous;
- Australian Driver's licence and own car
- appointments will usually be at Caboolture in our clinic but some may be in family homes (depending on family need); and
- Quality technology at home if parents prefer digital options.
Key skills include:
- A mature and unflappable attitude and a strong work ethic;
- Ability to work as part of a team, particularly with the Education Therapist to play appropriate learning programs;
- Enthusiasm, reliability and an inherent interest in supporting learners;
- Proven capability in establishing rapport with learners and parents/caregivers - we're after that special someone with an easy, comfortable rapport and genuine enjoyment of students with learning difficulties and challenges;
- Knowledge of and experience in using practical assessment and analysis tools to gain insight into learning delays - and experience in planning effective, child-centred programs of intervention and remediation. We are interested in why a child isn't learning as well as what a child has missed;
- A proven ability to work effectively within a team of dedicated professionals as well as independently: and
- Good case management and time management skills.
This position would be suited to an applicant who is looking for part-time work or an applicant with ongoing study commitments, returning to work or in transition to retirement. Interviews will take place as soon as possible.
