Cost Management Professional Role
A professional with a strong background in cost management and project controls is required to oversee cost estimating, analysis, and control activities across projects.
This role involves supervising schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, impact assessment, and recovery planning efforts.
The manager identifies and evaluates cost engineering and scheduling challenges, and delivers innovative solutions. They provide strategic guidance on cost engineering, planning, and scheduling to project controls supervisors.
Key responsibilities include leading the planning, execution, and integration of cost, schedule, and progress control systems, overseeing cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
The manager ensures accurate and timely reporting of cost performance, trends, and deviations. They supervise the development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated project schedules, and identify critical path activities and assess schedule impacts and recovery strategies.
The role also involves implementing and managing Earned Value Management (EVM) systems to track project performance, monitoring physical progress and providing progress curves, KPIs, and performance dashboards.
Support is provided for the identification and quantification of schedule and cost risks, and the integration of change management processes to ensure proper evaluation and incorporation of changes.
Project-level reports and executive summaries are prepared and delivered for internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities also include ensuring consistency and accuracy of reporting across the project, providing direction and mentoring to project controls staff and discipline leads.
A collaborative environment is fostered across cost, planning, estimating, and risk teams, and strong working relationships are built and maintained with engineering, procurement, construction, and project management teams.
Appropriate controls systems and tools are implemented, configured, and effectively utilized, and adherence to corporate project controls procedures, standards, and best practices is ensured.
Promoting continuous improvement initiatives and identifying lessons learned for future projects is also an essential part of this role.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
* 25 years of total experience, Minimum 20 years professional experience in project controls with emphasis on cost and project estimating.
