Project Engineer
Location: Yatala, QLD
Salary Range: $110,000 – $150,000
Position Summary
As a Project Engineer at LVL80Cranes, you'll deliver your own engineering projects from concept to completion while working collaboratively with a skilled team. You'll provide technical expertise, coordinate with stakeholders, and support junior engineers in their growth and development. This role is both hands-on and team-focused, giving you the opportunity to contribute to challenging projects while strengthening the capability of the wider Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering Delivery
* Review engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications to determine plant and equipment requirements.
* Develop CAD layouts for plant and equipment positioning.
* Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering activities to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
* Coordinate and direct design elements from concept through to completion.
* Provide technical support across all stages of project delivery.
* Assist Project Managers in delivering projects on time and within budget.
* Prepare, maintain, and manage all project documentation.
* Manage multiple projects concurrently while prioritising effectively.
* Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and efficiency.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and provide additional support when required.
Team Collaboration & Development
* Work closely with the Engineering team to allocate projects and provide guidance where needed.
* Collaborate with junior engineers to support their technical development.
* Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new engineering team members.
External Engineering Coordination
* Liaise with the Project Engineering Manager to select and engage external design engineers as required.
* Follow internal SOPs for raising PO numbers and onboarding consultants.
* Coordinate with Project Engineers to ensure outsourced design work meets LVL80 standards.
Performance & Quality Assurance
* Participate in regular catch-ups with the Project Engineering Manager to review performance, resourcing, and process improvements.
* Contribute to quarterly reviews with the Project Engineering Manager.
* Implement and follow work-checking protocols to ensure deliverables meet quality standards before release.
Escalation & Problem Solving
* Provide solutions for complex or non-standard engineering issues, including design discrepancies or site constraints.
* Act as a point of escalation for junior engineers and liaise with the Project Engineering Manager for resolution.
About You
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Structural).
* 3–5 years' relevant experience (highly desirable).
* Background in high-rise construction projects.
* Technical hoist engineering experience (highly desirable).
* Calm, reliable, and resilient under pressure.
* Strong team player with a collaborative approach.
* High level of attention to detail and self-motivation.
* Skilled in CAD and competent across Microsoft Office Suite.
