Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver secure, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial and industrial customers.
Based in Shepparton, the role of Team Leader – Field Operations requires you to lead and drive the operational performance of the operations works team at GVW, ensuring service delivery objectives are met.
You will set the standard for safety and develop a culture of service excellence, teamwork and open communication throughout the team.
Relevant experience in leading an operational team and proven skills in works management will ensure your success in the role.
About your new role
You will lead, manage and direct the daily activities for the operations team.
This is a dedicated team working in a great outdoor location looking after the Corporation's water and sewer networks within the Field Operations Northern region. The team is responsible for providing compliant and reliable services to GVW customers.
Your role will oversee and provide operational guidance to the team to deliver a high‑performing water treatment plant, manage works, and assist the Manager of Field Operations – Northern with management activities.
You will be responsible for setting the standard for the team as a leader, driving safety and culture practices and administrative requirements, including works management, assisting management with finance and asset activities, asset and data management, reporting, and developing maintenance programs.
A solid background in an operations and/or a works environment would add further value and provide a great entrance to joining a supportive team that enjoys working together to provide a high‑quality service to our community.
About you
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated some of the following:
- Certificate 4 or above in Water Industry Operations, or a lesser or comparable qualification with a minimum of 7 years' experience relevant to the industry.
- Certificate 4 or above in Leadership or Management (or equivalent) or willingness to commence studies with a commitment to complete within 2 years.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team in an operational and/or maintenance environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver small maintenance programs and projects.
- Ability to work effectively, or learn quickly, with computer‑based technology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational, self‑management and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment, ability and experience in resolving customer enquiries whilst providing a strong customer focus.
- A strong safety value aligned to commitment and focus.
- Committed to contributing positively to your team and the organisation.

- Classification: Applicants who meet the essential qualifications and experience criteria will be recognised at GVW4 (from $99,371). Applicants not meeting all essential criteria will commence at GVW3 top of band ($97,767) and progress to GVW4 once essentially qualified and suitably experienced.
