We have an exciting opportunity for a
permanent full time Transportation Planner
to join the
Road Infrastructure Planning Branch
within the Council.
This position plays a crucial role in developing and implementing transportation enquiries, plans, policies, and projects to ensure positive outcomes for the City of Logan. You will be able to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team with the support of the Program Leader.
Position responsibilities include:
* Work with local officials, community members, and other stakeholders to develop transportation plans that prioritise safety, accessibility, and sustainability
* Design and implement transportation projects such as road improvements, public transit expansions, and bicycle lanes
* Create and periodically update integrated transport plans, including short-term and long-term strategies
* Communicate complex concepts in plain language and build professional relationships
* Negotiate with stakeholders and respond to customer requests accurately
* Oversee external consultancy services and service providers
* Actively contribute to health, safety, and wellbeing activities to ensure workplace safety
Key indicators for success:
* Degree in Civil Engineering, transport planning or equivalent, and practical experience in the application of transport planning for various modes
* Specialist knowledge in transport planning, including legislation interpretation and policy implementation
* Ability to provide strategic and localised transport planning advice
* Highly developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* High-level project management, research, analytical, consultation, and negotiation skills.
* Proficiency in macro, meso, and micro traffic simulation models.
* Advanced computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office and GIS (preferably ESRI).
* Experience in producing complex reports and briefing materials, with the ability to explain complex issues in simple terms.
* C Class Drivers Licence
* Ability to pass all pre-employment and background checks successfully
