The Security Engineer with a23 is a new full-time position in our growing company. This position will be key in delivering secure cloud-based network and application access solutions by designing, implementing, and supporting our client’s environments. This includes configuring and deployingZscaler infrastructure and managing the integration with our customers bespoke dependencies such as identity, SIEM, MDAM and datacentre workloads
This role will work closely with client stakeholders, including security, networking, and infrastructure teams, to understand the existing architecture, business requirements, and security posture. Based on these inputs, this role will develop detailed configuration plans, assist in the rollout of policy and access controls, and support comprehensive end-to-end testing and validation.
Responsibilities will also include troubleshooting, tuning, and documenting the solution to ensure optimal performance and maintainability. Those who progress to interview will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of Zero Trust network architecture, identity integration (such as with Azure AD or Okta), and principles of secure application access.

Role responsibilities
* Assess, understand and define customer current-state environments.
* Design and implement Zscaler solutions based on clients’ requirements which respect common security models (Zero Trust, ISM).
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance on Zscaler products.
* Support the project timelines, deliverables, and report on project deliverables.
* Develop technical documentation, including design documents, operational guides, and test plans.
* Conduct training sessions for clients on Zscaler products and solutions.
* Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to ensure the Zscaler solution aligns with customer needs.
* Undertake workshops and presentations with both technical and executive audiences.
* Provide key inputs into security assessments.
* Ongoing contribution to a23 Quality Management System through development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflows, guidelines and troubleshooting practices.
* Contribution to the progression of the a23 strategy through participation in individual, Practice and a23 objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements
* Due to our customer requirements, this role is required to obtain and maintain a Australian Government Security Clearance at the Negative Vetting Level 1 at the time of commencement.
* Proven experience as a network engineer, IT consultant, or similar role for at least 5 years.
* Expertise in Zscaler technologies, including ZIA, ZPA, and Zscaler Connectors.
* Certifications in Zscaler and other network security technologies.
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills alongside strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and clients.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
* Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, GRE, IPsec).
* Experience with authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, LDAP, Active Directory).
* Familiarity with firewall policies, proxy configurations, and secure web gateways.
* Proficiency in troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, packet capture, and Zscaler logs.
* Experience in integrating Zscaler with SD-WAN, VPN, and cloud environments.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
* Availability for occasional travel to Brisbane and Sydney.
