Primary objective
Provide a continued program of due diligence including the development, implementation and maintenance of key quality assurance,
internal audit, and risk management program for Employment Services.

Context statement
The Assurance and Process Improvement Branch (API) is a unit separate from the business as usual (BAU) functions of Employment
Services. The API provides an independent assurance function focusing on quality assurance, projects and processes and the provision of
training and support.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Deliver a range of services related to payroll systems, governance, quality assurance and risk management including assisting in the

implementation of relevant process reviews and supporting payroll system owners complete updates as required.
2. Contribute to internal payroll audit processes; provide advice and recommendations regarding the outcomes of such audits and assist

with establishing and maintaining relevant business system relating to the NT Public Sector, legislative and Enterprise Agreement
requirements.

3. Participate in relevant assurance and process improvement projects as required.
4. Support a culture of achievement and continuous improvement with a focus on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of services

through high-level professionalism, innovation, and client focus.
5. Ensure the maintenance of effective business reporting and governance systems in all areas of responsibility and follow defined service

quality standards including Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in supporting the delivery of governance, risk management and audit related services or

projects within an operational environment.
2. Demonstrated knowledge, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge in implementing governance and quality assurance

methodologies, processes, and tools.
3. High level oral and written communication skills for effective and professional communication; and demonstrated competence in

preparing and maintaining documentation with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
4. Well-developed organisational skills with proven experience working under pressure, prioritising, and meeting deadlines.
5. Solid experience in using software packages including MS Office Suite, with ability to quickly acquire skills other software systems;

such as payroll and reporting systems.
6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice,

accountability, impartiality, diversity, and respect.

Desirable
1. Formal Qualification (or working towards) in Accounting, Business Administration, or other qualification or equivalent.
2. Working knowledge, or ability to quickly acquire, of systems related to corporate activities such as payroll.
