Overview

Scotch College has the opportunity for a creative and skilled professional to join the Senior School Creative Arts department. This is a term-time only, permanent part-time position working 15 hours per week. Working days and hours are negotiable, with a start date at the beginning of Term 2, 2026.

About the Role

The Senior School Art Technician is responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality visual arts programs across Years 9–12. The role includes preparing materials, assisting in classroom activities, maintaining equipment, and contributing to the presentation and exhibition of student artworks. Key responsibilities include:

* Prepare and manage art materials and resources for classroom use, including sourcing, ordering, storing, and maintaining equipment
* Support classroom activities under the direction of teachers, demonstrating practical techniques and assisting students to build skills and confidence
* Maintain art tools and equipment, recycle materials, and support sustainability initiatives
* Manage and display student artworks, including framing, mounting, photographing, and presenting work across the College
* Assist with organising and promoting exhibitions, competitions, and broader community engagement opportunities
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety practices within the Visual Arts department

About You

Applications are invited from creative and proactive candidates with a strong interest in art and art education, who demonstrate the following:

* Thorough knowledge of art processes, materials, and techniques, including ceramics, printmaking, and digital art
* Experience using IT for digital imaging, scanning artwork, and graphics software (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign)
* Ability to manage, prepare, and maintain classroom resources and art equipment
* Experience in framing, mounting, and presenting student artworks
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with staff and students
* Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to prioritise tasks within a busy school environment
* Alignment with Scotch College values of Service, Integrity & Stewardship and commitment to child safety

Desirable qualifications include Visual Art qualifications at Year 12 or above, experience as an Education Assistant, and experience supporting students with special educational needs.
