A well-known statutory authority in Melbourne is seeking an Environmental Planner for a temporary position. The organisation focuses on protecting the city's major water resources.
**Your new role**
Working with the Strategic Planning Manager, you'll be an integral part of the catchment planning and engineering team. You'll:
- Provide technical environmental assessment of planning scheme changes proposed by others (e.g., Victorian Planning Authority, growth area Councils)
- Ensure environmental, flora and fauna, cultural heritage, waterway geomorphologic, and other relevant interests and obligations are managed through appropriate land use planning decisions and outcomes
- Prepare reports, briefs and presentations on environmental and related issues
- Raise project briefs for external consultants and engage, supervise and direct them to undertake assignments
**What you'll need to succeed**
As well as having a qualification in Environmental Engineering or equivalent, you'll have:
- Experience and knowledge in areas of land development and town planning, drainage issues, storm water and floodplain management, drainage infrastructure planning, engineering design and construction, environmental management and water sensitive urban design
- The ability to professionally respond to developers and be confident in exploring flexible solutions
- Sound knowledge of state and commonwealth legislation and policies such as the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act and Planning and Environment Act
