Consultant Psychiatrist (Adult &/or Child and Adolescent) – Northam, WA
We are currently partnering with a leading regional health service in Northam to recruit Consultant Psychiatrists across Adult and Child & Adolescent Mental Health.

The Opportunity
* Work across Adult, CAMHS, Youth, Aboriginal and Older Adult Mental Health programs
* Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in a community-focused model of care
* Play a key role in clinical leadership, governance, and service development
* Collaborate with a strong multidisciplinary team (psychologists, nurses, social workers, Aboriginal health workers)
* Opportunity for outreach work across surrounding sites including Narrogin, Merredin, and Gingin
Salary & Benefits
* Total package: approx. $412,000 – $523,000+ p.a. (inclusive of 12% super + PD allowance)
* Additional consultant range: $333,000 – $448,000
* Sessional rates: $790 – $1,003 per session
* 4 weeks annual leave + 3 weeks professional development leave
* 5 weeks overseas PD leave after 5 years
* Regional incentives including district allowance, accommodation support, and relocation assistance
* Flexible working options: full-time, part-time, or sessional
* Strong focus on teaching, supervision, and ongoing professional development
About the Hospital & Service
Northam Hospital is the primary referral hospital for the Wheatbelt region:
* Approximately 70–80 beds, functioning as a Tier 3 regional hospital
* Provides Emergency, General Medicine, Maternity, and Mental Health services
* Close integration with Perth tertiary services (just over 1 hour away)
The Wheatbelt Mental Health Service delivers:
* Adult Mental Health (18–65)
* Child & Adolescent Mental Health (0–18)
* Youth services (15–24)
* Aboriginal Mental Health programs
* Older Adult Mental Health services
This is a community-driven service, allowing for continuity of care and meaningful long‑term patient outcomes.
Requirements
* Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (or equivalent)
* Eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA
* Experience in adult and/or child & adolescent psychiatry
* Open to UK/Ireland trained psychiatrists via the Expedited Specialist Pathway
