Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working in a dynamic, high performing payroll, HR advisory or talent acquisition function in a large complex organisation.

Note the Salary range shown includes 30 days of additional attendance required, as compared to standard Education Support roles under the Victorian Government Schools Agreement 2022. The successful candidate will be entitled to four weeks of annual leave, to be taken during periods as agreed with their manager.
About the Role
The Assistant Manager leads the optimisation service delivery and enhances the customer experience in the effective service delivery of HR and payroll services, systems, and processes. The incumbent will be instrumental in leading and shaping service delivery strategies, aligning with strategic goals, and driving continuous improvement in the services provided. The incumbent provides leadership and expert guidance and direction, fostering a culture of high performance through collaborative efforts and the resolution of complex payroll issues. The role is responsible for leading a team of HR specialists and consultants to ensure the consistent application and continuous improvement of specialist HR and payroll operational knowledge, services and advice.
Furthermore, the role is pivotal in providing people and technical leadership and technical expertise as well as championing the culture of service excellence, collaboration and professional growth across the unit and the broader People Services (Schools) branch.

People and Workplace Relations (Schools) division is responsible for providing quality employee services and human resources to support school-based and regional staff in best practice and delivering on workforce strategies and initiatives to support the attraction and retention of teachers and school workforce staff in Victorian government schools.
- Provides support and advice on payroll and recruitment, school workforce performance and development, HR data analysis and reporting
- Implements and manages a range of workforce supply initiatives to increase supply and distribution of teachers across Victoria, providing targeted support to schools experiencing workforce challenges
- Manages the industrial environment for the schools workforce and employee relations matters and the appointment processes for the Merit Protection Boards and the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
The position is located in the East Melbourne office and there is a hybrid working model available.
