One ongoing full time vacancy is available in either Alice Springs or Palmerston subject to negotiation with the successful applicant
Selection will be made at the P2 or P3 level depending on the experience and qualifications of the successful applicant.

The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment’s Water Resource Division is responsible for the administration of the Northern Territory Water Act 1992, which provides for the investigation, allocation, use, control, protection, and management of the Territory’s water resources.
As a Hydrogeologist (P2), you provide hydrogeological input into the scientific assessment and monitoring of the Territory’s groundwater resources to deliver advice for the sustainable use of water.
This involves undertaking and contributing to projects that acquire and evaluate hydrological and hydrogeological data to make resource assessments to deliver the division’s objectives. You will also have the opportunity to research and implement industry leading groundwater resource assessment techniques, including field investigations, drilling and geophysical surveys.
As a Senior Hydrogeologist (P3), you play a leading role in the hydrogeological assessment and monitoring of the Territory’s water resources, recognising cultural values. You will ensure delivery of scientific investigations and advice for the sustainable use of groundwater. In addition, you will facilitate landowner and land management participation in projects, as well as mentoring and developing junior hydrogeologists and technical staff.
Tertiary qualifications in Hydrogeology, Science and professional experience in Hydrogeological assessment and groundwater analysis using of spatial tools (GIS / remote sensing), technical report writing and the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders is essential.
