Wood is recruiting for a Lead Civil Engineer to join our Minerals & Metals business, focusing on FEED / Execution to EPCM delivery on mining projects. This is a 6-month contract with possibility for extension ideal for someone looking to progress into a leadership role, supporting a major client based in Brisbane.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Structural Engineering Discipline Manager or appointed Team Lead, you will be working across FEED / Execution to EPCM delivery, with a focus on design. To be successful in your Lead Civil Engineering role, you will have prior Lead engineer level working experience within an EPCM engineering environment with mining scope of work engagements.
Responsibilities:
* Manage discipline design section for specific projects to ensure that designs are in accordance with project time, budget and technical requirements
* Mentor, coach and guide less experienced staff to increase technical expertise of people, as well as knowledge of systems and procedures
* Accountable for the quality of deliverables of the discipline design section in line with the needs of the customer and regulatory authorities
* Be responsible for the production and/or review of engineering deliverables including models, drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, evaluations etc
* Assist in setting man-hour budgets for engineering and drafting and recommend engagement of additional manning, as required
* Monitor the progress and performance of your project or scope of work, give input and provide feedback and support where necessary
* Assist in reviewing feasibility studies documentation and estimates
* Assist in providing feedback to the Project Engineering Manager on design progress budget and schedule
* Provide technical support to the onsite construction teams, projects department and estimating department

Expected:
You will be able to work lawfully in Australia and hold full working rights for this location. If you have a visa application in progress, you are also encouraged to apply.
Ideally, you will be a suitably qualified engineer with a Bachelor's Civil Engineering degree or equivalent, from a recognized institution and have:
* Familiarity with relevant standards and design guidelines to the civil engineering discipline
* Experienced in performing Civil Design including detailed design of:
o Plant pad / terrace bulk earthworks and drainage
o Road and drainage design
o Technical specification preparation and bid evaluation
* Drive the design and drafting scopes independently
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with the client
* Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize
* Knowledge in the relevant software packages is beneficial (e.g. Open Roads, 12D and Civil3D)
