Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
* Provide advice on legislation and rules to Court staff and legal practitioners, particularly in the civil and probate jurisdictions.
* Review and determine applications, including complex applications received in the probate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.
* Conduct mediations and assist in the management of mediation processes.
* Perform other legal functions as determined by the Registrar including exercising statutory functions conferred upon the Registrar under sections 5K and 5L of the Supreme Court Act 1959, as delegated, in particular:
o taxing bills of costs
o settling appeal books.
* Contribute to the administration of the Court through active participation as part of the Court's management team.
Essential Requirements
Admitted or eligible for admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania
Desirable Requirements
* Significant relevant experience.
* Training and experience in mediating in legal contexts.
