Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our company as a Marine Trainee within the maritime industry. This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to begin a career at sea or in maritime operations and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, safety-focused environment.

Study Requirements:

Throughout the 12 month training program, you will complete a Certificate I in Maritime Operations (General Purpose Hand Near Coastal), a Coxswain Certificate, and an MED III through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on the job experience.

Traineeship Outcome:

Subject to assessment and sea-time requirements by AMSA, this qualification will allow you to work as a GPH (General Purpose Hand/Deckhand and/or Coxswain).

What you will learn:

* Practical skills in coastal navigation, using a range of vessels
* Practical firefighting and survival skills required for safety at sea

Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity you MUST:

* Have completed at minimum Grade 10 education or above
* Be a Gladstone local or a local of the region of Gladstone
* Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and be able to provide a Certificate of Aboriginality
* Have a genuine interest in the maritime industry, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
* Enjoy practical, hands on outdoor work
* Be committed to completing a recognised qualification through the traineeship
* Be able to undertake a Pre-employment Medical and Drug and Alcohol testing
* Have a valid Australian Drivers Licence (provisional or higher) and own transport
