Ascent Building Solutions | Sunshine Coast, SE QLD Full-Time | Permanent | Competitive package + Ford Ranger Wildtrak + tools of trade
Looking for a hands‐on Project Manager role where you can take real ownership, work with a solid team, and be part of a business that's built to last?
A trusted Sunshine Coast name, still growing after 21 years
Ascent Building Solutions has been a known fixture of the Sunshine Coast construction scene since 2005. Over the past two decades, we've built a business that the Coast knows and trusts - now in our 21st year, with a strong foundation and a clear path forward.
We're proud of what that looks like:
* Sunshine Coast Business Awards winners in 2006, 2007 and 2008
* Inducted into the Sunshine Coast Business Hall of Fame
* Recognised in Business Review Weekly as one of Australia's Fast Starters in 2009
* A stable, loyal team (many with us for more than a decade, some closer to 2 decades!)
We're a licensed Medium Rise Builder who specialise in Metal Roofing and Metal Wall Cladding. A significant portion of our work is for government departments, national clients, and Colourbond Steel across Queensland and into Northern NSW. We've earned a reputation for quality workmanship, reliable delivery, and doing what we say we'll do.
As we step into our next chapter, we're growing thoughtfully – investing in our systems, our people, and the clients who have trusted us for years. That's where you come in.
The opportunity
We're looking for a grounded, astute and authentic Construction Project Manager to join our core project team. This is a rare seat in a business where people stay, values matter, and your work is visible, valued, and backed by directors who care about getting it right.
You'll take full ownership of projects from initial enquiry through to completion – coordinating our internal roofing teams and subcontractors, liaising directly with clients, preparing quotes, and driving outcomes on site. Projects range from smaller maintenance projects through to larger roofing and building projects up to $750K, with multiple jobs running concurrently.
This is a hands‐on role. You'll spend time on site and in the office, working closely with our directors, project team, office staff, and trades. You'll operate with real autonomy, and you'll be entrusted to lead.
You'll be accountable for delivering projects successfully – from client satisfaction through to budget and profitability.
What you'll be doing
* Managing clients and multiple projects from start to finish – safely, on time, on budget, and to our high standards of quality
* Conducting site inspections and coordinating trades and subcontractors
* Preparing and issuing quotes, and attending tender and job pre‐start meetings
* Building strong, lasting relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
* Leading site teams and taking ownership of project outcomes (no direct line management, but you'll be the driver)
* Overseeing safety compliance and documentation
* Managing budgets, cost control and project profitability
* Providing regular, clear updates to clients and directors
* Completing project handovers with the same care you started them with
* Contributing to the ongoing improvement of our systems, processes, and ways of working
The kind of person we're looking for
We want someone who's in it for the long haul, who treats people well, and who brings a calm, capable presence to every site and every client meeting.
We hire for attitude and capability, with experience to support it. Ideally, the right candidate will bring:
* Experience in construction project delivery is preferred (typically 3–5 years), however we are open to candidates with a strong trade or roofing background who can demonstrate project coordination or leadership capability
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, organisation, and control across all stages
* Strong communication and relationship‐building skills – with clients, trades, suppliers and teammates
* The ability to prepare professional quotes, emails and documentation
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
* Comfort with systems, smartphones and adapting to new technology (we use a custom in‐house platform and are currently rolling out a new replacement system)
* Physical fitness to fulfil the inherent requirements of a CPM role, and a willingness to attend construction sites and access roofs
* Commercial awareness – you understand budgets, margins, and what profitable project delivery actually looks like
* A collaborative mindset and a genuine willingness to back your team
This role suits someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and takes pride in delivering a job properly from start to finish.
Qualifications
Essential
* Current driver's licence with a good driving record
Highly regarded (we can help you get these if needed)
* Construction White Card
* Working at Heights ticket
* Trade qualification (particularly roofing or construction)
Why Ascent

* Christmas shutdown period (typically 2–3 weeks)
* Performance‐based bonuses and recognition
* Company uniform + annual uniform allowance
* Regular team lunches, breakfasts and social catch‐ups throughout the year
* A team‐based project environment where you're never on your own
