Join the leading provider of functional Capacity Building services to people living in the South West of Western Australia, from Early Intervention to Assistive Technology and home and community-based services.

Psychologist (Provisional, Registered or Clinical welcome to apply)

Permanent role

Salary starting at $85,169 or above depending on years of experience.

Transdiciplinary therapy team, located in Eaton/Bunbury, WA

A fantastic opportunity for a Psychologist to join our innovative team while expanding your clinical expertise and building the capacity of those around you with Evidenced-based Best Practice.

THE TEAM

The SWAT work model empowers our team members to be at their best to deliver the best service to our clients and community. We work closely as a team, value open communication and help each other identify and grow our strengths.

The SWAT transdisciplinary team comprises Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Dietitians, Educators, Psychologist and Allied Health Assistants. The multiple disciplines working in the transdisciplinary model allow us to make a significant targeted impact when holistically supporting our clients.

POSITION

As a psychologist within our transdisciplinary team, you will provide capacity building support to clients in their homes and everyday environments including schools, workplaces, daycares, in our community and at our SWAT premises including our living skills house. The clinical caseload is varied creating a fantastic opportunity to further develop expertise in working with a broad range of clinical diagnoses and support clients to improve their ability to perform everyday tasks. As a psychologist you will be responsible for providing professional, evidence-based services to clients across the lifespan. This will include providing effective individual, family and group talk therapy, determining realistic goals for psychotherapy, performing psycho-diagnostic evaluations, psychometric assessments, providing psychoeducation, demonstrating an understanding of patient needs when devising and implementing treatment. The psychology services will contribute to high quality care to achieve best outcomes for people and their families/significant others. Another focus of this position would be providing training and consultation to the transdisciplinary team members in service development and quality improvement. Experienced therapists may provide leadership to newer therapist in areas relevant to their strengths and expertise.

SKILLS NEEDED FOR THE ROLE

• At SWAT we work with a variety of clients: our services extend into all corners of the South West community, and our clinicians have the flexibility to enjoy a variety of client profiles from depression, anxiety, through to eating disorders, Intellectual disability, PTSD, ASD, chronic and Phantom pain.

• Psychometric and cognitive testing.

• Providing support for clients, families and their support networks through a range of evidence-based interventions e.g. (CBT, ACT and psychoeducation)

• Ability to assess, plan and implement strategies to increase participation in everyday tasks.

• Capacity to develop, modify and evaluate therapy approaches in accordance with evidence-based practice.

• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork.

• Demonstrated participation in professional and personal development.

QUALIFICATIONS

Registration to the Psychology Board of Australia relevant to level (i.e. Provisional, Registered or Clinical).

Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

3-5 years of clinical experience.

Previous experience working in a community setting

Previous experience working within the NDIS

Strong theoretical knowledge base and experience in the areas of disability.

Demonstrated ability to provide high-level teaching, training and support to team and students.

Demonstrated understanding and commitment to principles of continuous quality improvement.
