Job Description
Our esteemed client, Bantu Recruitment Agency, is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join their team on a full-time basis. The company is an African-Australian-owned recruitment firm with strong ties to Indigenous labour hire initiatives. In this role, the Heavy Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for accurately identifying and diagnosing faults in engines and related components, as well as dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, and other mechanical parts.
The annual salary for this position is $80,000 to $150,000. Responsibilities include:
* Conduct thorough detection and diagnosis of faults in engines and associated parts.
* Perform dismantling and removal of engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components, followed by inspection of parts.
* Execute repairs and replacements of worn or defective parts, ensuring precise reassembly of mechanical components while consulting service manuals as necessary.
* Proficiently reassembled engines and parts post-repair with accuracy and attention to detail.
* Test and fine-tune mechanical parts after repairs to ensure optimal performance, utilising manual methods and computer-assisted diagnostics.
* Perform vehicle inspections and issue roadworthiness certificates or outline necessary repairs to achieve roadworthiness standards.
* Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for heavy diesel equipment, including lubrication, fluid checks, and component inspections to ensure optimal performance and longevity of machinery.
* Utilise welding equipment and fabrication techniques to repair or modify metal components, such as frames, brackets, or exhaust systems, ensuring structural integrity and functionality of heavy diesel equipment.
* Installs and assembles machinery and equipment on-site as needed.
* Maintains comprehensive records of maintenance and repair work, including details of parts used and tasks completed, to ensure precise documentation and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
* Should have more than five (5) years of experience in a similar setting.
* Should hold a relevant Australian Trade Certificate.
