We're a rapidly growing hospitality-tech start-up.
We currently have over 700 venues using our online ordering app and web ordering technology in Australia and New Zealand. We have big plans to grow, and this means continued expansion in the Australian, New Zealand, and US markets!
We're looking for an ambitious, experienced, full-stack developer to join the team. Alongside our existing team, you will become an integral part of our domestic and international expansion with dedicated support to hone your craft.
The role:
As a core member of the development team, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining critical customer-facing products and backend systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and extending the Bite dashboard used by hundreds of hospitality businesses
- Building and extending our APIs, with a focus on performance and scalability
- Building and extending the white-labelled website platform used by our customers
- Debugging and resolving issues raised by the support team
- Refactoring legacy systems to improve reliability and performance
- Implementing automation features to streamline customer onboarding and deployment
The Ideal Candidate
You are a developer who is comfortable taking ownership of full-stack features, and you bring strong engineering fundamentals to a fast-moving environment. You should:
- Have solid experience with PHP (both Laravel, but also outside of frameworks)
- Have strong skills in HTML, jQuery, and CSS
- Have strong skills in React
- Have hands-on experience in payment integrations and secure transaction flows
- Have a deep understanding of highly scalable systems and infrastructure
- Be comfortable working with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront, etc.)
- Have excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Communicate clearly in a remote-first team, both asynchronously and in regular catch-ups
Bonus Skills
- Experience with Next.js (used in parts of our dashboard and website)
- Strong design sensibility for UI/UX decisions and animation/interaction states
- Familiarity with AI tooling — both for development speed and building AI-powered features for customers (e.g., auto-generated menus, content, or marketing materials)
- Bite will provide a recent model MacBook Pro to use for work purposes
- You will need to have a suitable work environment (including an office chair and desk) to use for work purposes.
Travel expense
- From time to time, you will be required to travel to meet for collaborative development days. Bite will cover expenses for any work-related travel requirements.
