Role summary
As a Parks and Gardens apprentice you will work in our Parks Maintenance team to help maintain Council's parks, reserves, sports fields, cemeteries, and other recreational assets. You will operate and maintain park maintenance plant and equipment and contribute to the upkeep of natural assets such as trees, shrubs, groundcover plantings, street garden beds, floral displays, and turf areas.
Key responsibilities

- Work within the Parks Maintenance team to support council assets across the MidCoast region.
Qualifications and experience
- Genuine interest and aptitude for working in council community spaces.
- Motivation to develop a career in parks and gardens.
- Demonstrated diligence through past study or work experience.
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment basic skills assessment and medical check (includes drug and alcohol testing, sight and hearing, and a functional medical assessment).
Training and certification
Qualification will be achieved via TAFE NSW to attain a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens (3 years).
Employment details
Commencement: Tuesday 27 January ****.
Remuneration: $31,288–$53,196 p.a. in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award, plus 12% superannuation. 38 hours per week, fortnightly rostered day off. Fixed-term 3-year contract. Location: MidCoast Council Depot, Grey Gum Road, Tuncurry – with cross-site duties across the MidCoast region.
