Provide day‐to‐day library support, assist with research and resources, maintain operations, and contribute to continuous improvement, training and safety activities.
The Team
Library Services is a small friendly state‐wide team that works closely together as part of the Department of Health to provide high‐quality support to clinicians, researchers and general staff.
The Role
Provide a range of customer‐focused library and information services and supply technical support for the operation and maintenance of a special library.
Responsibilities
* Execute a wide range of specialised technical duties necessary to maintain library and information services for DoH staff.
* Advise and guide clients in accessing the resources and services of the Library and assist with information queries and research.
* Identify and resolve problems associated with the day‐to‐day functioning of the Library.
* In consultation with management develop, review and update procedures that support technical duties and initiate and participate in quality management activities.
* Provide training, guidance and feedback to less qualified or experienced staff undertaking technical duties.
* Provide administrative support for the Library's professional staff and maintain appropriate statistical records.
* Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation's Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and safeguarding practices for vulnerable people.
* The incumbent may be allocated duties not specifically mentioned in this document that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience in and knowledge of library procedures including circulation, document delivery, collection maintenance and information access.
* Demonstrated ability to achieve a high standard of customer service through sound interpersonal communication skills.
* Experience in the use and operation of computerised equipment and systems in a library and information environment.
Details of Appointment
Fixed‐term part‐time day‐worker position, 45.6 hours per fortnight, commencing 1 July 2026 and ending 30 June 2027.
Salary and Superannuation
Salary range is $76,849 to $82,996 per annum (pro rata) plus 12% superannuation.

Essential Criteria
* Possession of a Diploma in Library and Information Studies or equivalent TAFE/Polytechnic or post‐secondary qualification with eligibility for Library Technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
*Registration or licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and may be checked at any time during employment.
