APO has been contracted by North Queensland Export Terminal Pty Ltd to manage operations of it's coal export terminal at the Port of Abbot Point—Australia's northernmost coal port—located 25 kilometres north of Bowen, between Townsville and Mackay, serving as the gateway to the Whitsundays.
Abbot Point Operations has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Reliability Lead to join our Team. As we navigate increased throughput and strive for operational excellence, we are focused on enhancing the performance of our systems, processes, and the critical interfaces with our production, logistics, and supply chain partners.
As our Operations Reliability Lead you will help drive improvements in our logistics, and production team to support Terminal and supply chain efficiency, ensuring safe, sustainable, and value-driven operations. This is a key leadership role within APO, crucial to our continued success and growth.
What You'll Do:
• Lead and drive improvements to enhance logistics, production, and supply chain interface efficiency, particularly in Inloading, Stockyard, and Outloading areas.
• Develop, maintain, and implement Training and Development plans for all Reliability Team members, ensuring their continuous growth and alignment with APO's culture.
• Role model expected standards and behaviours for all employees and contractors, ensuring a positive relationship between your team and all other APO teams.
• Lead, coach, and monitor team performance to ensure progress aligns with APO's operational goals.
• Support the planning and validation of the annual equipment outage schedule, ensuring alignment with APO's capacity requirements.
• Design, implement, and sustain business improvement strategies and processes for Inloading, Stockyard Management, and Outloading.
• Identify and advise on opportunities for effective maintenance and project scheduling, ensuring seamless operations within planning constraints.
• Monitor and review the long-term stockyard planning process to optimise stock management and capacity planning.
• Monitor and enhance the effectiveness of Logistics Management systems, providing support for their continuous improvement in line with APO's requirements.
What We're Looking For:
• Proven leadership experience in managing teams within the production, logistics, or supply chain sectors, ideally in a terminal or industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of operational systems, particularly in logistics, stockyard management, and equipment maintenance scheduling.
• Expertise in developing and implementing training and development programs for operational teams.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change, drive continuous improvement, and build a positive safety culture.
• Experience in utilizing and optimising Logistics Management Systems and similar tools to improve operational efficiency.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management, particularly in managing operational constraints and ensuring capacity requirements are met.
