Key responsibilities of this role include overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of heritage and contemporary buildings, greenhouse structures, vehicles, plant and equipment, irrigation systems, and pumps at a wholesale production nursery.
The Site Maintenance Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring these assets remain in safe working order, as well as maintaining heritage trees and providing technical advice to senior management.
This role involves managing small projects within the context of the nursery, such as the construction of a pump shed.
Additionally, the Site Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for Workplace Health and Safety.
Required skills and qualifications for this role include experience in maintaining heritage assets in accordance with the Burra Charter.
A strong understanding of ACT Workplace Health and Safety legislation, policies, and procedures is also necessary.
Experience in less complex ACT Government procurement and contract management is beneficial.
Applicants should have a good understanding of a production nursery environment.
The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively in a team environment and supervise a small team and contractors.
They must also be physically capable of undertaking the tasks listed above and willing to work outside standard hours or weekends when required.
**Eligibility/Other Requirements**: The position is located at Yarralumla Nursery in Canberra. A current C Class Driver's licence, uniform, and various certifications are essential. Ability to lift up to 16-20kg is also required.
