Opportunity to play a lead role in the delivery of the Reconnecting River Country Program to improve the health of the environment in Murray and Murrumbidgee River systems.

* Senior Project Officer, Reconnecting River Country Program Role
* Temporary full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity to 31 December 2026
* Albury, Wagga Wagga or southern NSW office location by negotiation
* Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $129,464 to $142,665 plus super

Join a team of professionals in the Reconnecting River Country Program, a key Murray-Darling Basin Plan initiative designed to improve the health of the environment through relaxing constraints to enable flexible delivery of water for environment. The program aims to connect rivers to wetlands and floodplains through working with First Nations people, landholders and broader community to achieve quadruple bottom line outcomes.

About the Role

The Water Group is seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer, who will coordinate a multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe, efficient, and coordinated delivery of operational activities under NSW's Reconnecting River Country Program to achieve project outcomes and support the achievement of continuous improvement in operations.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will have experience in balancing competing demands to deliver and coordinate a range of activities, leading and supporting a team to deliver safe and effective operational outcomes, administrative and communication deliverables, including maintaining a thorough and current understanding of issues that may impact on the project and program outcomes and escalating key issues and risks on a timely basis.

You will have strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with multiple stakeholders to enable program outcomes to be effectively and efficiently delivered. You will also have strong project management skills, staff coordination experience, and budget management.

You will also have a genuine interest and/or knowledge of the Murray-Darling Basin floodplain and wetland ecology and threatening processes.
