What your day could look like
As Assistant Coordinator Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander - Aged Care, you'll strengthen culturally grounded care for Elders and families across the Darling Downs. You'll help people feel confident navigating aged care, champion their cultural needs, and work closely with staff and community partners to shape services that truly honour identity and connection.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
Supporting Elders and families to understand and access aged care pathways with dignity and cultural safety.
Building strong relationships with community, carers and health teams to coordinate culturally responsive care plans.
Lifting staff capability by promoting culturally safe and trauma-informed practice across aged care services.
Driving quality improvements and community engagement that celebrate culture and enhance aged care experiences.
Let's talk about you!
You're someone who leads with compassion, listens deeply and values relationships built on trust and respect. You take pride in helping Elders feel safe, supported and understood, and you bring the courage to advocate for cultural needs in every care setting. You thrive in roles where connection matters and where your insight helps shape better pathways for ageing well.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, community perspectives and health needs.
Confident communicator who can collaborate with clients, families, health teams and community partners.
Experience in service navigation, assessment or care planning.
Commitment to ongoing learning, accuracy in documentation and reliable follow-through.
You'll stand out if you bring experience in aged care, community health or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary health care, and/or relevant qualifications.
Most importantly, you're driven by the opportunity to uplift Elders, strengthen cultural wellbeing and live the values of compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage every day.
