Utilise your Legal expertise to provide support to the Courts and Justice System Reform division Ongoing Full-Time opportunity available to work on court reform projects within the Attorney-General's portfolio VPS Grade 4: $97,955 - $111,142 plus superannuation. About Us: The Courts, Civil and Criminal Law (CCCL) group provides policy advice and support on criminal law, civil law, and court and tribunal issues for which the Attorney-General is responsible. CCCL includes the Courts and Justice System Reform (CJSR) division, which leads strategic court and justice system reform relevant to the Attorney-General's responsibilities, including strategic projects relating to the courts and key entities across the justice system. CJSR works collaboratively with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure policy reform is strategic, relevant, holistic and people-centred. Within CJSR, Courts Policy, Strategy and Legislation (CPSL) supports and advises the Attorney-General on policy issues across the court and coronial systems. The Courts Policy, Strategy and Legislation branch consists of three teams: The Courts Legislation team - delivers legislative reforms related to courts, aiming to improve outcomes, court efficiency and access to justice​. The Courts Policy team - identifies and delivers court policy reforms, which includes supporting the Attorney-General's oversight of the court system to improve outcomes and access to justice​. The Justice Enhancement and Sustainability team - undertakes whole-of-justice-sector strategic policy, particularly related to budget, financial sustainability and efficient system performance.​ About the Role: The Legal Policy Officer is responsible for contributing to the co-ordination, research, development, implementation, review and reform of policy and legislation across the Attorney-General's portfolio, as it relates to courts. Some of your duties will include: Contributing to the research, development and implementation of policy and legislative proposals, programs and initiatives within the Attorney-General's reform program Providing considered and informed advice to management on key policy and legislation issues and system reform issues Engaging, consulting and working collaboratively with our partners across the department and the broader justice system to deliver on policy, strategy and reform projects. About You: As our ideal candidate you will have: Knowledge of and/or experience of legal policy and/or relevant legal practice. Policy Design and Development, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
