FInXL is seeking a Senior Data Observability Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing and implementing the analytics infrastructure for the Validation Lab. You will be responsible for building systems that provide deep visibility into complex networks, supporting test and evaluation, risk reduction, and large-scale experimentation.
This role sits at the intersection of Data Engineering, DevSecOps, and Systems Integration, requiring a technical expert who can bridge the gap between experimental systems and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and build data observability tooling to support validation activities and directed initiatives.
* Develop and maintain data observability practices for experimentation, root cause analysis, and network optimization.
* Provide technical advice and assistance to staff and supported elements, contributing towards future architectural decisions.
* Partner with DevSecOps and Automation elements to incorporate data observability tooling and configurations for test activity preparation.
* Provide technical support to exercises, activities, and trials for role-specific technologies and systems.
* Deliver just-in-time training and actively mentor personnel during periods of instruction.
* Provide written and oral reports from test events and post-activity assessments.
* Provide technical guidance to developing capabilities via the Digital Integration Framework to enable an integrated system within a Joint and Coalition Force.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Extensive experience with ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), Elastic Stacks, and Netflow.
* Deep proficiency in Linux (primarily Red Hat) and virtualization technologies (KVM, VMware).
* Relevant experience in developing/employing DevSecOps systems (CI/CD pipelines, GitLab).
* Proficiency in code languages and scripts - Python, Bash, PowerShell, Java, C, C++, etc.
* Proficiency in API development, configuration, and integration.
* Strong knowledge of networking, storage, and integrating emerging technologies into secure infrastructure.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure Data Analytics; industry certifications in data observability (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, etc).
* 10+ years relevant experience in Data Engineering and Analytics roles.
* Experience or exposure to employing Agile project management practices and processes.
* Tertiary or vocational qualifications in data engineering, data analytics, IT engineering, or related fields.
