at the University of Sydney, Camperdown campus with occasional travel to Dubbo and Lismore.
Salary: Academic Level B base $127,436 per year; Level C base $156,103 per year, plus 17% superannuation, with loading as appropriate dependent on clinical experiences.

About the opportunity
This is a Targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Position. Preference will be given to applicants of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent. This Exemption is claimed under Section 21 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
The University of Sydney deeply values Indigenous ways of knowing and being. The Doctor of Medicine (MD) is the flagship program of Sydney Medical School. There are approximately 220 Commonwealth Supported Places for medicine each year. Our goal is to attract, support and graduate Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander doctors in each of our cohorts. We currently have 22 Indigenous students enrolled in the MD.
The primary role of the
Senior Lecturer (Indigenous Health)
is to contribute to the teaching and learning efforts within the MD Program and provide support and guidance for our Indigenous students enrolled in the MD.
Responsibilities
participate in educational activities relating to Indigenous Health in the MD curriculum
provide support for our Indigenous students across the 4 years of the program, based at Camperdown campus and metropolitan clinical schools
participate in peer support with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff at the Camperdown campus and clinical schools associated with the MD
identify and engage key stakeholders in the community, including Aboriginal Medical Services and the Local Health District, maintain regular contact with them via meetings and surveys, and updates
develop and grow relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
travel to Dubbo and Lismore campuses as required
act as a role model for Indigenous students, offering mentoring and guidance throughout their medical education journey
About you
Indigenous identity
: identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and have a passion for Aboriginal people, culture, health, history and change
Community connections
: evidence of strong links and respect within the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Desirable background
: Allied Health or medical background or experience in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations
Teaching experience
: experience in teaching and learning, team teaching, and engaging with students from diverse backgrounds
Collaboration
: strong track record as a collaborative member of project teams
Professional development
: developing knowledge of key issues in higher education or willingness to learn
Communication
: excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Community work
: proven practical experience working within local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with strong links and respect
