About the Role
As a Body / Chassis & Crash Test Supervisor you will manage and coordinate all Body and Chassis Laboratory testing, and Full Vehicle Crash testing for all IMG vehicle development programs and run change activities. This will involve working cross functionally with multiple customers to LEAN test plans whilst maximising the output of the labs testing capabilities. In this role you will also have the lead in driving the labs proactive Quality initiatives. The position reports directly to the Facilities and Test Operations Manager and is based at the Geelong research and development centre and our proving ground in Lara. It is predominantly an onsite role with a minimum of four to five days in the office.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or automotive equivalent.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of proven experience in an engineering testing environment.
Ability to work across blue & white collar workforces with a good understanding of the different industrial considerations in working with a trade workforce.
A proven history in creating a strong Health & Safety culture in the workplace.
Technical & Communication Skills: Demonstrated strong technical acumen combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Problem-Solving: Proven ability to effectively solve complex engineering issues through the use of key engineering problem-solving tools (e.g.: G8D, 5Y, etc.).
Organizational Skills: Adept at multitasking and managing a diverse range of activities.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, influence stakeholders, and foster collaborative relationships.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of experienced test engineers across the Body/Chassis Test Lab and the You Yangs Crash Barrier.
Manage and coordinate all Body, Chassis and Vehicle Crash DV testing for all IMG vehicle programs and cost reduction activities.
Coordinate with all stakeholders to deliver efficient DV plans to minimize prototype bucks and crash vehicle counts.
Benchmark new testing technologies globally and plan the most efficient facility and capital investment spend to maintain global testing capability.
Drive a LEAN approach to the test labs.
Build a strong global connection with the Ford North American and European test labs.
Lead the Test Engineering Quality initiatives and create a quality-first culture in the labs.
Support the Design & Release Engineering teams in root-cause investigations and problem resolution of testing or field failures.
Hold teams accountable for robust root-cause identification, engineering countermeasures and positive verification.
