You will be part of a small team dedicated to supporting Bankwest's compliance with its Privacy, Data Management and Record Management Obligations. Reporting to the EM Data and Privacy Risk, you will lead a small team of risk professionals providing outstanding Privacy, Data Governance and Records Management advice and be the primary Privacy SME for Bankwest.
Your Role
* Lead Specialist Advisory Team: Guide a team of subject matter experts in Privacy, Records Management, and Data Governance, ensuring compliance with Group standards across Bankwest.
* Drive Continuous Improvement: Own and refine advisory processes, fostering a culture of ongoing enhancement and operational excellence.
* Provide Expert Privacy Advice: Act as the primary Privacy SME, delivering authoritative advice on privacy matters for projects, change initiatives, and business planning.
* Strategic Risk Guidance: Advise on privacy and data risks, embedding risk management into business strategies and transformation programs.
* Lead Compliance Initiatives: Oversee and execute compliance projects related to privacy changes, ensuring Bankwest meets all regulatory requirements.
* Monitor and Assess Compliance: Evaluate Bankwest's adherence to privacy obligations, maintaining up-to-date Privacy Notices and Statements.
* Embed Privacy in Operations: Champion privacy risk management practices, integrating compliance into business processes and project delivery.
* Reporting and Insights: Prepare clear, actionable reports and insights for senior leadership and governance forums, supporting informed decision-making.
* Promote Privacy Awareness: Advocate for privacy standards, controls, and industry best practices throughout the organization.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, influencing senior executives and supporting cross‑functional collaboration.
* Regulatory Intelligence: Stay abreast of evolving privacy laws and regulations ensuring Bankwest's policies and practices remain current and compliant.
* Training and Capability Building: Develop and deliver training programs to uplift privacy, data governance, and records management capability across Bankwest.
* Incident Response: Lead or support privacy incident investigations and response, ensuring timely resolution and regulatory reporting where required.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Proven expertise in privacy advisory (required), with additional strengths in data and records management (desirable), across financial services, government, or consulting.
* In-depth knowledge of Australian privacy laws and related frameworks.
* Strong background in risk management or compliance, including control design, assessment, and remediation.
* Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
* Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
* Results‑driven, pragmatic, and resilient in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.
* Experience in team and process management, with a track record of developing high‑performing teams.
