We're seeking an experienced Casual Chef to join our team at Sunshine Coast University Hospital. This role is vital in delivering high‐quality, nutritious meals while upholding strict food safety and hygiene standards.
This position goes beyond cooking—it's about ensuring exceptional quality and seamless service for our customers at the Kitchen Café, while also contributing to the Production Kitchen that supports nine retail outlets. We're looking for someone dependable, motivated, and able to thrive both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.
Casual role, approximately 20+ hours per week
Operational hours: Monday to Sunday, 6:30am – 8:00pm
A dynamic role suited to someone flexible and self‐motivated.

What You'll Do (key responsibilities)
* Prepare and cook menu items with consistency and quality.
* Plan menus and manage ingredient preparation.
* Coordinate kitchen and service areas to ensure smooth operations.
* Maintain food safety standards, including correct storage, rotation, and temperature control.
* Operate and clean kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
* Monitor hot and cold food cabinets and maintain correct holding temperatures.
* Ensure excellent presentation and customer service.
* Follow cleaning schedules and maintain a hygienic work environment.
What You'll Bring
* At least 1 year experience in a busy kitchen.
* Strong knowledge of food safety and allergen management.
* Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends.
* Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Certificate in Commercial Cookery.
* Food Handlers Certificate.
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
