About Us:
DCC specialises in 24-hour residential care, allied health, outreach support, community access, supervised family contact, and transport. It is dedicated to creating a warm, friendly home environment for our children and young people and empowering them with the skills needed to live independent lives.

About the role:
In this role, located in Gladstone, you will be working as part of a dynamic care team, providing both youth support and disability support services to children and young people in DCC care. Our young people may have a range of additional needs, including ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), language disorders, and reactive attachment disorder.

You will be responsible for offering compassionate, trauma-informed care and supporting each young person's individual development and well-being. This includes assisting with personal care needs such as meal preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, medication administration and accurate medication data recording, skill development and socialisation, and providing transport to school, appointments, and community-based activities.

As part of supporting children and young people with complex communication needs, you must be willing to use a variety of communication tools, including audio devices, pictorial aids, and PODD (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display) communication books. Full training will be provided by qualified therapists to ensure that every member of the care team is equipped to deliver consistent, high-quality support tailored to the unique needs of each young person.

Qualifications / Requirements:
- Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work or Child, Youth and Family Intervention or similar
- Current Blue Card
- Current Australian driver's license: Opens or P2
- Current First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain
- National Crime Check, or willingness to obtain (DCC funded)
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) is highly desirable but not essential

About you:
The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and young people, being a strong role model, doesn't take things personally, and can help the children and young people explore themselves and their culture with good personal values.

Availability:
We're seeking candidates with flexible schedules, available for a mix of day, night and weekend shifts as needed. These positions require work across 24/7 rotating rostered shifts, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.
