Overview
The position of Retail Buyer is a genuine, full-time role created to support the operational and strategic growth of the company. The position has been established due to the increasing scale of procurement activities and the anticipated expansion following the acquisition of an additional solar business.
Currently, the Company Director is directly responsible for managing all supplier relationships, product sourcing, pricing negotiations, stock forecasting, and procurement compliance. As business operations expand across multiple states and product lines, this structure is no longer sustainable. The Director must increasingly focus on high-level strategic management, business development, integration of the acquiring company, and overall operational oversight.
Responsibilities
The Retail Buyer position has therefore been created to ensure continuity and structured succession within the procurement function. The role will operate under the direct supervision and guidance of the Company Director. During the training period, the role will progressively develop skills in:
* Supplier identification and evaluation
* Price negotiation and cost comparison analysis
* Stock planning and demand forecasting
* Product compliance verification and documentation review
* Inventory coordination across multiple business units
* Maintaining procurement records and reporting
The supervision framework will include regular performance reviews, structured task delegation, and ongoing mentoring to ensure the role develops the necessary commercial and technical competencies required for the role.
Qualifications & experience
* Diploma in Business or relevant qualification is required for this role.
* Previous 12 months experience is required to satisfy job requirements
* Technical Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Excel (for data analysis), inventory management systems, and understanding of market trends.
* Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills are crucial.
