Laynhapuy Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services is the sole provider of health services in twenty very remote Homeland communities located through 6500 km² of East Arnhem Land.
Laynhapuy Health works to enhance the health and wellbeing of Yolngu people by providing holistic quality primary health care delivered in Homeland communities by culturally competent staff in partnership with people and their communities.
The Health service has its administrative base in Yirrkala and outreaches to deliver primary health and wellbeing services to twenty of the Homeland communities.

What's the role?
Teams of staff outreach four days per week up to 220 km travelling by 4WD or light aircraft from Yirrkala to deliver planned, prioritised health care, follow up on previous telephone triage and deal with "walk in" appointments and emergencies. Laynhapuy employs Aboriginal Health Workers who reside in their respective Homelands who provide valued cultural and community connections and liaise with health staff between visits. As a remote area nurse, you will –
* Coordinate and deliver care for clients, including those with chronic disease.
* Provide assistance in the event of accidents and incidents, following emergency procedures and protocols.
* Manage an additional portfolio of responsibilities based on service needs and individual skills, qualifications and interests (e.g. child and maternal health, client information systems, aged care and chronic disease).
* Work within CARPA guidelines or formally established protocols or under medical direction.
* Contribute to a capacity-building approach that ensures the enhancement of the health and well-being of Yolngu in the Homeland communities.
* Contribute as part of a team to ensure that health services are delivered in a culturally competent, efficient andeffective manner supporting the health and well-being needs of Yolngu.
* Undertake general administrative tasks associated with client management and record keeping
* Participate in and provide professional development and mentoring to Community Health Workers and others.
* Participate in Health Service Team activities including continuous quality improvement activities and accreditation requirements.
Is the role right for you?
* Tertiary Qualification Degree with current AHPRA
* Knowledge of CARPA
* Experience working in a Remote Setting
* Able to travel 4WD or light aircraft
* A high level of personal fitness due to the physically demanding nature of remote work
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including high level written and oral communication skills
