Work Health and Safety Specialist Role

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Work Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures, conducting regular risk assessments, providing expert guidance on safety regulations, and contributing to the overall well-being of all employees.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about promoting a proactive safety culture within our organization. If you have a strong analytical mind, excellent interpersonal skills, and experience in developing and delivering relevant WHS training programs, we encourage you to apply.

* Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
* Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend preventive measures to mitigate risks.
* Provide expert advice and guidance to management and staff on health and safety matters.
* Stay up-to-date with relevant occupational health and safety regulations and update policies accordingly to ensure compliance with legal standards.
* Collaborate with various departments to deliver targeted health and safety training programs.
* Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and compile reports with recommendations for corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety initiatives and adjust strategies as needed to achieve continuous improvement.

Requirements:

* A Cert IV (or higher) in Work Health and Safety or similar qualification.
* Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to cultural context, particularly in relation to Aboriginal health.
* At least two years of experience as a WHS Advisor/Officer or similar role.
* In-depth knowledge of WHS safety principles, regulations, practices, and programs.
* Strong analytical and assessment skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
