The Security Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and security of millions of users worldwide who rely on Ubuntu, the most widely used Linux distribution.

The security engineering team's primary responsibility is to respond to emerging threats and aim to secure the open source ecosystem for community and enterprise use. Your work will improve the security of millions of people by addressing potential CVEs and vulnerabilities alongside the lifecycle of Canonical products such as Ubuntu.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and develop a team of engineers, ranging from graduate to senior level
2. Provide technical guidance on vulnerability remediation
3. Drive the development of new security engineering projects
4. Work with upstream open source projects on vulnerability lifecycle handling
5. Coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback
6. Identify and measure team health indicators
7. Implement disciplined engineering processes
8. Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
9. Develop and evangelize great engineering and organisational practices
10. Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong academic track record, excellent communication skills, and a passion for software and application security. You should have a solid background in software development, including expertise in support and maintenance, and mastery in any programming language. Experience working in an agile development environment and a demonstrated drive for continual learning are also essential.
