Alfred Health is a leader in health‐care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, ranging from ambulatory to inpatient and home‐and‐community based services. On 1 January 2026 Alfred Health will join Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to form Bayside Health, a newly merged service that will employ more than 22,000 people and serve a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new service will continue to provide best‐possible care and support people throughout their lives, while strengthening the workforce with new training, education and career opportunities. All employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health upon final approval on 1 January 2026.

The Department
Alfred Health Radiation Oncology (AHRO) is a unit of a comprehensive cancer service with sites at The Alfred – Melbourne (ARO) and Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO) at Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) – Traralgon. The service provides the full range of general radiation oncology and radiation therapy services, plus specialised services of state and national significance.
Location Summary
The Latrobe Regional Health is located in the only regional city in eastern Victoria. Latrobe City is made up of many small townships with Moe, Morwell and Traralgon as its main towns.
Gippsland Radiation Oncology is situated at the Latrobe Regional Health site in Traralgon, Latrobe Valley.
Gippsland offers a wide range of lifestyle options – from native bush walks, beaches and lakes to snow fields – and supports urban living, rural townships, farming and well‐supported business communities with good schools and hospitals.
At Gippsland Radiation Oncology you will work with the latest technology, including Varian Truebeam Linacs, AlignRT, the full suite of Varian software (ARIA patient management, Eclipse planning systems) and an active SABR workload. The Role
A range of contracts for Grade 1/2 Radiation Therapist positions are on offer at Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO). Positions involve routine radiation treatment planning and delivering treatment commensurate with experience within the Grade 1/2 level.
Qualifications and Experience Required
* General skills and knowledge base in radiation therapy practice commensurate with entry‐level qualifications at degree or masters level
* Ability to manage allocated workload efficiently and effectively, meeting acceptable timeframes; senior assistance may be required for more complex planning or problem‐solving situations depending on experience
* Awareness of quality and safety issues
* Engagement in continuing professional development
* Interpersonal and communication skills
