The Amazon Logistics (AMZL) team is looking to hire an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Automation Engineer to join the Australia Engineering team.
In this role, the Automation Engineer will be responsible for defining specifications and monitoring performance of the Material Handling Equipment in our AU Last Mile delivery Network.
This role requires an engineer with experience in automation, engineering, planning, and analysis of the Material Handling Equipment in Delivery Stations.
The successful candidate will partner with Automation Engineering, Field and Design Engineering, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering, Process Engineering, Facilities, and Operations leaders to effectively operate and deploy Material Handling Equipment across Amazon's last mile network.
This role involves regular communication with partner teams from Japan, Europe, and WW to support parallel development projects.
This role will be based in either Sydney or Melbourne.
The position requires regular domestic and international travel (approximately 25% of work time).
Key job responsibilities
Lead Material Handling Equipment automation projects
Update equipment specifications based on various factors; labor, cost, safety, performance, etc. working with Process Engineering and Operations partners
Support field engineering teams in deploying the specified equipment at sites across Australia
Monitor performance of the installed equipment in Australia by measuring success criteria for meeting metrics for safety, productivity and quality
Support lessons learnt program to understand improvements needed for specifications iterations
Work with Worldwide teams to understand development plans in other regions and opportunities for bringing new ideas to Australia
Support development and implementation of Service and Maintenance concepts for AMZL Field teams

Basic qualifications
Bachelor's degree
4+ years of experience as an industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment
Experience working with Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies, and storage solutions
Experience working with and managing third-party vendors
