The Team:

Pre-hospital and Retrieval Medicine (PHRM) is a core state-wide clinical service under the Tasmanian Role Delineation Framework. Services provided comprise:

1. Critical care (medical team) responses from Hobart and Launceston bases to provide pre-hospital and in-facility treatment and interfacility transport for seriously sick and injured people.
2. A Critical Care Management Advice Service (CCMAS), providing emergency management advice to paramedics, doctors and nurses, and clinical coordination of high-risk interfacility transfers conducted by CCR and non-CCR crews.
3. Medical coordination and on-scene clinical support for mass casualty incidents and disasters.
4. Medical support relevant to the above services for system-wide quality improvement via incident review, policy and protocol development, and health professional training.

The Role:

The Director of Medical Education and Training is a Specialist Medical Practitioner who provides a specialist PHRM service by participation in a shift-work plus on call roster.

Additional duties of this role are:

* Collaboration with key stakeholders to develop strategies to address medical education and training needs for CCR.
* Coordination and development of medical education and training within CCR, with a focus on preparing and credentialing specialist graduates for practice in PHRM.
* Ensuring that the recruitment, appointment, credentialing and employment of medical staff are consistent with legislative and Award provisions.
* Assisting the Medical Director AMR in the coordination, administration and evaluation of Critical Care Services.
* Acting in the position of Medical Director CCR as required.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, shift worker (fully rotational), including on call, working 28.5 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary:

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

* Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available

* Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
* Motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro rata
* Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%
* Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum, pro rata
* Professional development and accelerated pathways.
* A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
* Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family.
* Other allowances as applicable.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as

* Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant speciality
* Eligible for, and required to maintain, credentialing by the Tasmanian Health Service in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia or Intensive Care.
* A reasonable level of physical fitness and ability to swim such that the applicant can function safely in the pre-hospital and aeromedical environments and maintain helicopter underwater egress training (HUET) currency.
* A Current Driver’s Licence.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

* Qualification in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine.

* Significant experience in teaching, research and clinical quality improvement, and clinical service development.

* Currently working in a high acuity clinical environment.

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
