About the Role
You will take on the role of Software Developer, joining our small but dedicated development team in our Wetherill Park office. This position is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of a custom dropshipping platform based in Shopify, handling backend systems, cloud deployments, queue diagnostics, and production incident resolution.
The role involves owning cloud infrastructure, based in the Google Cloud Platform, and automations to ensure scalability and reliability in B2B operations. The role requires close collaboration with sales, marketing, and other stakeholders to build internal tools and integrate legacy systems.
What a Successful Candidate Looks Like
Having the following set of skills will help us bring you up to speed quickly on your problem domain:
A minimum of 3-5 years of professional software development experience is required.
Technical Skills
* E-Commerce Integration: Extensive knowledge of the Shopify development platform and related integrations
* Backend Development: Proficiency in / JavaScript, API design/integration (REST/GraphQL), and asynchronous processing/background jobs (i.e. Quirrel or similar)
* Data & Systems Reliability: Hands-on experience with SQL / NoSQL databases (i.e. Postgres with Prisma ORM, MongoDB), Redis (queues and data structures), concurrency control, health checks, failure recovery, and Git / version control
* Cloud Infrastructure: Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (i.e. Cloud Run, Scheduler, Buckets) or equivalent AWS / Azure experience, containerisation with Docker, and CI / CD pipelines / deployment automation (e.g. Bitbucket or similar tools)
Non-Technical Skills
* Problem-Solving & Ownership: Incident investigation and resolution, ongoing observability, and end-to-end project management and project leadership
* Communication & Collaboration: Excellent stakeholder engagement, cross-departmental collaboration, experience with lightweight Agile methodologies, and "bigger picture" thinking (understanding why we build the things we build, and how we can build them better)
* Continuous Improvement Mindset: Willing to take feedback to see what worked, what didn't, and how we can do things better next time around
Useful Extra Skills
We don't need these, but if you have these you'll be strongly considered:
* Strong frontend design skills, especially any experience wireframing mock-ups using UI/UX tools (e.g. Figma)
* Scripting / automation languages (e.g. Google Apps Script, Python)
* Unit testing and code quality practices
* Experience with using and developing extensions for additional e-commerce platforms, particularly Magento 2 and / or Woocommerce
* Analytics tools (e.g. GA4 setup and dashboards)
* Multi-cloud exposure or broader DevOps tools, particularly in the Atlassian and Vercel space
* A love of documentation
* Non-reliance on AI to write code or troubleshoot problems
