An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Hydraulics Design Engineer to join a world-class engineering team supporting a range of high-performance motorsport and advanced engineering programmes. This role is ideal for a skilled engineer with a background in hydraulic systems design, who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working across multiple programmes rather than on a single ring-fenced project.
As part of the wider design function, you'll be responsible for the design, integration, and release of hydraulic systems across the business – ensuring consistency, performance, and reliability across all platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop hydraulic components and systems for a variety of high-performance applications, including actuation, control, and cooling.
* Support the release and sign-off of all hydraulics work across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with engineering standards, quality, and performance expectations.
* Collaborate closely with design, systems, manufacturing, and trackside teams to ensure efficient integration and packaging of hydraulic components.
* Produce high-quality CAD models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and specifications in accordance with internal procedures.
* Provide guidance and technical support across departments to ensure hydraulic systems are delivered to specification, on time, and to budget.
* Maintain and improve hydraulic design standards, templates, and documentation to support continuous improvement across the function.
* Participate in design reviews and assist in resolving technical issues across programmes as required.
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in hydraulic system design, ideally within motorsport, Formula 1, aerospace, or other high-performance engineering sectors.
* Strong understanding of hydraulic components such as actuators, valves, accumulators, reservoirs, pumps, filters, and routing of hard and flexible lines.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Siemens NX or CATIA V5/3DX) and experience generating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
* Understanding of system layout, pressure losses, fluid selection, and sealing strategies.
* Strong cross-functional communication and organisational skills to manage priorities across multiple projects.
* Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, with the ability to flex and adapt to shifting priorities.
