Job Title: Communications Operator
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated communications professional to work in a dynamic environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Manage emergency calls using negotiation and conflict management skills to de-escalate callers and gather vital information.
* Apply the Queensland Police Service's demand management framework (SOLVE) to request police resources for incident response.
* Relay data accurately using voice communications equipment in a time-critical environment to assist responding police units.
* Research police data management systems to gather information on relevant persons, vehicles, and locations.
* Review incidents, assess tasks, and update incidents with relevant information swiftly and accurately.
* Liaise with other service providers to allocate resources as required.
* Adhere to information security policies to ensure confidentiality and proper use of systems.
* Interpret and relay information related to legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Contribute positively within a team to achieve service standards, including supporting and mentoring other operators.
Requirements
* A fixed-term 6-month training program with successful completion leading to ongoing employment.
* A 24-hour, 7-day roster working 36.25 hours per week with applicable shift penalties.
* Alcohol and/or drug testing as per policy.
* A keyboard skills certificate with a minimum of 40 words per minute at 98% accuracy.
* Assessments including typing, call-taking simulation, and cognitive ability tests.
* A psychological assessment.
* An approved PEMS hearing test; regular hearing tests are required during employment.
